The General Educational Development (GED®) Test, which enables adults to earn a high school diploma, is given each month at the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) office near Montandon.

To obtain your Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma:

  1. It is recommended that applicants attend a free GED screening at one of the sites (in Bloomsburg, Lewisburg, Milton, Shamokin and Sunbury) to determine test readiness. Instructions are available for registering online for the GED test.
  2. When registered, applicants are required to attend one of three orientation sessions, which will be held at the CSIU. Students must bring government photo identification, second proof of address, test ticket and application, and a payment of $60 cash or money order to the orientation session.
  3. On test day, students must bring government photo identification to take the test.

The GED exam is made up of five parts: English/writing skills, reading, social studies, science and mathematics. Anyone who passes the test is entitled to a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma, issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Scores will be made available online to students within one week after taking the test.

Persons taking the test must be 18 years of age and must have withdrawn from school.

The CSIU also offers GED classes for incarcerated individuals. Click here for more information.
