Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers after-school programming (Pathfinders and STEAMS)
STEAMS (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) are after-school and summer programs available for students in grades K-3 at Baugher Elementary School, grades 4-5 at White Deer Elementary in Milton, 6-8 grades at Milton Area Middle School, grades 3-6 at Mount Carmel Elementary School and 2-6 at Shamokin Elementary School. Pathfinders are after-school and summer programs available for students in grades 3-6 at L.R. Appleman Elementary School in Benton Area School District, grades 5-8 at Central Columbia Middle School, grades 3-6 at Warrior Run Elementary School and grades K-5 at West Snyder and Middleburg Elementary schools in the Midd-West School District. The programs parallel each school's curriculum, and staff provide hands-on enrichment activities in STEM, literacy, social-emotional learning, physical fitness and homework help.
STEAMS and Pathfinders are a Federal 21st Century Community Learning Center grant program funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and administered by the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit.
