    During the 2021-2021 school year, the CSIU will be implementing Google Classroom, which is part of the Google Apps (GAFE) Suite. Google Classroom is a learning management system (LMS) that will be used by CSIU teachers to make announcements, record videos, post assignments, host virtual meetings, and share resources for your student.


    How does it work?



    In preparation for the 20/21 school year, the CSIU has procured devices for each student enrolled in a CSIU special education program. Devices will take the form of either a personal laptop computer or an Apple iPad. The decision on which device is most appropriate for the individual student will be based on a number of factors including the student’s comfort level with specific device types as well as the individual's strengths and needs.


    The CSIU recognizes that many of our students do not have access to reliable high-speed internet. In an attempt to provide an equitable educational experience for all of our students, the CSIU will facilitate connectivity for students. In the event a student/family is unable to secure an internet connection on their own, the CSIU/home district will provide mobile hotspot access or a cellular activated device. Parents should communicate any connectivity needs directly with the supervisor of their student's program.


    Although we may not be able to be physically together during this time, the CSIU is still here to support all of our students and families. Should families/students have questions regarding technology including logons, connectivity, classroom support, etc. they should communicate with the program supervisor directly using the contact information that was provided upon enrollment in the program.  The CSIU will also maintain a student/family tech support email (CSIUStudentTechSupport@csiu.org) for general technical support.
