CSIU Program Highlight: Teacher Recruitment and Webpage
The CSIU invested in a sponsorship with WBRE for their NEPA Children First Campaign. This sponsorship allows us to create 30-second television spots over the course of the year that promote CSIU programs and school districts.
Especially exciting was the opportunity to run a spot during the Super Bowl! The 30 seconds was used to honor the profession of teaching and create a landing page linked to the commercial that features the various pathways available to those interested in entering education at different stages of life. The new apprenticeship model CSIU is developing will become one of these pathways. Please watch and share the video and website!

Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day is a poignant opportunity to reflect on the immense legacy of Dr. King and the values for which he stood. To recognize the importance of living our values, the Center for Schools and Communities (CSC) commemorated this day to embody CSIU values, specifically, Service to Others and Equity in Action.
This year, in celebration of MLK Day, more than 20 individuals from the CSC participated in volunteer activities that honored Dr. King's vision and contributed to communities in the greater Harrisburg area. Activities included assembling blankets for the homeless, care packages for the food bank, diaper drives, toys for tots and domestic violence victims, and helping to rehab homes for Beahive Affordable Housing Outreach Inc.

The CSIU 2024-2027 Strategic Plan is posted for public review and comment. As presented, it serves two purposes. The first is to align the goals of CSIU’s three-year plan with its organizational values. The vision presented in this document is the result of many team meetings and discussions at every level of the organization. The goals articulated in this plan inform the goals of each employee so all are working toward the common mission. The strategic plan is not meant to be a stagnant document but a living plan that will be updated with timelines and evidence over the next three years.
The second purpose of this plan is to fulfill a comprehensive planning mandate from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This is a requirement of all LEAs, and while the template was created for districts and not intermediate units, some information was extracted from the CSIU Strategic Plan to ensure both compliance and a meaningful roadmap for the future.
