Association to hold information session on Pa. education efforts

MILTON - The free informative session “Ensuring a College Ready PA!” hosted by Keystone State Literacy Association Susquehanna Valley (KSLA SV) will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Central Susquehanna Intermeidate Unit (CS1U) 16 located at 90 Lawton Lane in Milton.
The purpose of this session is to keep specialists in the field of education updated on Pennsylvania’s efforts to ensure all high school graduates are career ready upon graduation.
Hosted by the KSLA Susquehanna Valley, this free 60-minute workshop is designed for teachers of grades 1-12. Snow date is Feb. 20. This educational session is open to all educators, administrators. preschool teachers, pre-service educators, and homeschool parents.
This session is provided by Christina Herman who has 30 years of experience in education focusing on the development and implementation of comprehensive programming related to student services, career development, intervention services and special education.
Herman is an educational consultant and career ready specialist, who works for csiul6 and PDE’s Career Ready PA initiative.
The PDE Teacher Evaluation requires all PA teachers to demonstrate "participation in a professional community” and “growing and developing professionally.” KSLA Susquehanna Valley helps to fulfill that requirement. Teachers will receive 1.0 hours credited toward their Act 48 requirements and a letter of commendation by completing a short survey.

All KSLA Susquehanna Valley meetings are free of charge. However, there will a $5 free to process non-member Act 48 credits. As always, there will be no charge to process Act 48 credits for KSLA SV members.
The upcoming KSLA Susquehanna Valley Celebrate Literacy Banquet will be held, May 7 at the Country Cupboard Restaurant in Lewisburg.
Doors open for registration at 5 p.m. with the banquet beginning at 5:30 p.m.
